Community Volunteering

So you would like to help promote the PitBull in a positive manner. You love the breed and want to do more but are not sure where to start or even if your assistance will be of benefit.

At the American PitBull Registry ( APBR ) we work with the PitBull community to help educate the public on the breed, work to create an activist system aimed at changing the ways laws are formed and how media reports on breed specific issues, assist with rescue and re-home efforts, promote responsible pet ownership and more.

When dealing with a group of volunteers that are spread across the world it is often difficult to manage a system that is both efficient and effective. When doing voulunteer work for the PitBull ( APBT ) breed there are essentially two ways of going about such. Enthusiasts for the PitBull breed need to work on both the individual level and in group efforts.

It is often the individual volunteer that is the first planted seed that over time as passion and understanding grows multiplies into larger more cohesive group volunteer activities.

As an individual there are many things you can do that will help promote the PitBull ( APBT ) in a positive manner.

  • Be a responsible and humane American PitBull Terrier ( APBT ) owner.
  • Only speak of the PitBull in a positive manner.
  • Actively dispel common myths such as the breed had been bred throughout history for the purpose of fighting.
  • Become a volunteer foster home.
  • Pay attention to local PitBull reports by the media and write letters to such organizations when false or misleading information has been presented.
  • Make financial contributions.
  • Be politically active for PitBull positive representatives in public office.
  • Draw up petitions and gather support to eliminate or put down breed specific laws ( BSL ).
  • Vote against proposed Breed Specific Laws ( BSL ) and vote their sponsors out of office.
  • etc.

If you would like to have your name added to a network of volunteers we would be happy to add you to our personal volunteer list and work with you in developing local efforts to help promote the PitBull ( APBT ) in a positive manner in your locality and beyond. Volunteering can also be done that helps out PitBull friendly humane organizations by setting up an account with our Comprehensive PitBull Resource Network, which is the world's first such network of its kind.

To have your name added to our volunteer database you may fill in the following form. In addition to the following form if you would like to stay on top of the most current volunteer events and going ons then we would like to also encourage you to sign up for our Volunteer RSS news feed.
